2011 is upon us, no really it is!

Hey to everyone who has been checking my blogger page, i know i dont update with new blogs very often but im hoping to change that.

There have been a few developments with regards to my own personal life but most importantly with the band, after taking the 2-3 months off so i could focus as much time as i could on P.R. work its also given myself and the band time to think about the future.

Unfortunately we have decided not to continue pushing my debut releases in a live setting with "7", due to band members other commitments and personal/proffessional development (among other reasons) we have decided to finish amicably.

My intentions were always to have the band involved with producing the albums be the same band performing the material live, as a result of these recent developments i wasnt willing to continue this project if all original members were not to be a part of it.
It is a shame we werent able to bring these 3 albums to you on a silver platter with bells and whistles like we intended, i wish the guys all the best of luck :-)

On the flipside however.........

I have been more excited than ever about where music is taking me right now, im constantly following that creative voice in my head and it has led me to some very strange but refreshingly new places hehe.

The new album will be the clearest representation of my musical work so far, after experiencing what lifes thrown at me (including bands, albums and other musical noodlings) i can see and hear what this album "My Mona Lisa" will be like.

Many of you who have heard and purchased my CD's will have an idea of how eclectic they are, my initial aim was to create 3 individually different albums back then.
The break from the band has given me some valuable time to sit and really get to know my musical self, ive been going through my never ending pile of archived music from the beginnings right up to where i am now.
There has always been big influences on me throughout (biggest being Joe Satriani, of whom i had the pleasure of meeting this year which was a childhood dream come true)
Aside from the influences there are moments of destinctiveness, traits that were subtle to begin with but gradually become obvious to me as i got to the later recordings.
Even i was unaware of them throughout my years as a musician, sometimes you have to take a step back from what your doing to really appreciate what you do.
Im not saying this is a unique feeling since im sure it happens in all walks of life, i guess its all part of being a creative.
It is strange though because i honestly find it so hard to except compliments from people, i suppose this has alot to do with the reasons why ive never really listened to myself or ever pat myself on the back for anything.
The feeling is like becoming so connected to what you do everything about it becomes 2nd nature, like typing 100's upon 1000's of words a minute on a keyboard becomes so easy you forget how hard it was the first time around.
Then after leaving it alone for a while you suddenly become like an outsider looking in again, looking at yourself as if it were someone else (or something like that haha)

Anyways.....

As i have always promised to myself, i will continue my quest of gigging and maybe someday touring my music, so heres to making 2011 my busiest musical year yet!

Peace & Luv as always,

Lucky ;-) xx

Sunday 19 September 2010

Hey peeps,

its 4:45am right now and I just thought I would send you all an update on how things are going before I get a couple hours sleep ahead of another busy day, Yaaaawn... ;-)
Things have been going really well, the new music is coming along great and I’m really enjoying everything I’m involved in right now.

"7" played our first full 2 hour + show at the assembly rooms Ludlow last month and we had such a great time, it was a luxury to have all the backing tracks + visuals throughout the show.
It’s hard to live up to since most venues don’t have the facilities to cater for animated visuals as a backdrop, we are more than prepared to just rock out without the visuals though and rehearsals have really been some of the best we have ever had.

As always I’ve been working hard on new pieces of music, if I wanted to I could probably delve into another 3 album release but feel I should slow things down a little hehe.
Need to give myself a little more time to let things "Breathe" ;-)

As many of you may know I’ve been working on a piece of music entitled "Breathing" which I had written and recorded especially for Guitar Idol 2010!
It’s always been great fun entering into the Guitar Idol competitions and the last 2 competitions have been a really good experience for me, above all it’s been a really great tool for exposing my music to people and appreciating their interest in what I do.

With the help of Tony Knight and Ben "Billy Bob" Bosco I’ve been able to create a video that’s a little more special this year, myself and Tony spent a day travelling to different areas in and around Telford to shoot some external footage.
If you’re from Telford you may find a few of the shots familiar, in addition to that myself and Ben "Billy Bob" Bosco filmed some close up footage indoors so the judges and avid guitar fan can see my playing in more close up detail.

The entry has now been submitted and you are all welcome to head on over to http://www.guitar-idol.co.uk/video/583 and show your support by voting for me, it would be great to make the final this year but again... I’m more than happy just to be gaining the right exposure from an event like Guitar Idol.

Download the full mp3 version of "Breathing" and full album versions of "Foxy's Crazy" and "Hometown" from Here.

Just a short one here folks, just want to say a final thank you for your continued support and as always stay safe and well.

We will see ya on the road soon!

Hhmmmmmmm???

Hey all,

Had a few things on my mind and I just wanted to ask you all a question....

Every now and then i get negative comments with regards to the musical direction and vision for the music i create and perform with the band.

Ive always felt a passion for instrumental guitar more so than any other genre of music, dont get me wrong i love all types of music but i find Instrumental guitar to be something i naturally migrate towards when expressing myself emotionally through music.

My issue lies with comments we have had after shows, mostly with regards to the lack of vocals that appear in our set.
Ive never been concious of captivating a market or a group of fans, its always been about creating music i and my band love to play.
It seems now we get these comments more often than not, what does this say about the future of instrumental guitar music as a genre?
I will stress that this is my own personal experience though, and obviously i cannot detremine the fate of any musical genre based on what i alone am experiencing out there.
Me and my band still have alot of area to cover in terms of venues, towns and cities, since we have played only few shows in the UK, midlands and i imagine and i hope that there are venues that have music fans that enjoy going to see a band playing the type of music we play.
As i book shows for the band right now it is something i grow uncomfortably concious of, of course you shouldnt worry about these things and just go out there and enjoy yourselves but it is difficult to gauge what people want to see in certain places.

So... are you a music fan that tends to lean more towards a band with a lead singer since you relate to words more than emotions expressed purely in notational form?
Let me know....

The other reason i ask is because its also an issue im more concious of whilst writing new music, i have never been the type to sell out by following a trend or trying to capture a market.
I could never produce something that expresses true emotions with true conviction, if it had been tailored for a certain genre.
Does this mean an artist has to be false in order to produce something that is to be accepted?

It can be a very frustrating time when you cant go out performing and enjoying the music you create with so much negativity out there.
One thing has always been true though, if i produce a piece of music be it with vocals or just guitars or even a digital orcheastra then those pieces of music are always written with a true sense of personal conviction.
This isnt a unique feeling and i think creative people all feel that way, and if they dont then they should!

Im not saying that myself and the band feel we are so accomplished in the industry that the market should just accept us, i just feel such a whirlwind of negativity out there right now and just wanted to share the experience with you all.

Well... we are still going out there and performing for you all and we are still selling CD's which is something we cannot complain about but we do rely on and thats the truth!

Stay safe peeps, keep doing what you do and enjoy yourself.
The only motto you need in life

Peace & Luv,

Lucky Singh

"Lucky"

Hey all, Lucky here lol!

I wanted to apologize for the fact we havnt updated any of our webpages for sometime now, everyone has just been so busy with usual day to day things that we havnt had time to focus on the music (dont get me wrong the break has been nice, i just dont like feeling as though things get sidetracked too much)

Well......
We have been rehearsing!! Thats right, myself, Ben and Kev have recently began working on the live set again. Things are very different this time around though, for those of you that came out to see us last year well... prepare to expect alot more if you can haha! (allthough the shows from 09 were great and we really enjoyed them)
I dont want to give too much away but im feeling really good about things this time around, seems like the initial ideas and vision that came from all 3 of us from the beginning will actually come to fruition!

It has been months and months of ups and downs both on a personal and proffesional level, not knowing what to do with the music, the band etc.. The break has given us time to rethink our approach and just give it some balls and get out there and play some music!!

Well there isnt much more i can say here but i gotta say the first couple rehearsals have been great, the music is sounding better than ever and the time off has made us all realize how much we've missed eachothers company but also how we've missed playing these songs.

Peace & Luv As Always ;-) xx

The Weeks Shinanigans!!!

Well.....
Myself and Ben have been working mega, mega hard on getting the trailer finished for our new feature The Origins Of Project 8105!
It has taken myself and Ben between 5 and 10 hours to complete it, its amazing all the hardwork and time we put in for a trailer that runs just under 2 minutes hehe!
Thank god we had all the artwork provided by Kev, we are very pleased with the result and it gives us a clear idea of what these episodes will look like.
You can watch the trailer here http://www.youtube.com/7uckytv
Also episode 3 of The Mystique Of "7" is now up so you can go and watch that there too!

And on that note (anything between A and G# hehe) we will be seeing you soon!

Peace and Love as always ;-)

The Mystique Of "7" & The Origins Of Project 8105

Just updating you all on a few things (Whoever you are hehe)

The 2nd episode of The Mystique Of "7" is up at our youtube channel www.Youtube.com/7uckytv
In this episode I talk about the 2nd track "Its My Desire" which Features on my instrumental guitar album entitled "7"
Its really strange because ive never felt comfortable hearing my own voice or watching myself on video hehe, i dont know what it is theres just a real cringe factor for me when it comes to doing things like this.
Serves me right for choosing the career path i have chosen i guess haha.
Maybe in time i will get more comfortable with it and except it without screwing my face up whilst watching myself on video or hearing myself on record haha, maybe someday i will have that "Jack Black" attitude where i can just vibe with my inner stupidity lol!
Anyway.... so the 2nd episode is up and you can go and watch it right now
(or after youve read the rest of my wafflings first hehe)

As always please pay a visit to the website at www.LuckySinghOnline.com
There you will find all the information about all 3 of my debut albums

"7" which is my first real introduction into Instrumental Guitar Music

Tokyo Rules which is a vocal oriented, straight up, rock/pop album

Project 8105 which is a concept album crossing many different genres, with a comic book style booklet and many elements of movie sparkle thrown in for good measure hehe.

Myself and Ben have been working hard on editing the next video feature which will be exclusive to our youtube channel entitled "The Origins Of Project 8105"
The coming soon trailer is a days worth of editing itself, we wanted to (as always) try and make the next thing we produce better than the last.
All though that is the case when we come to producing something new, The Origins Of Project 8105 is a completely different format anyway so it will stand out from many other features without having to strive for a certain uniqueness!

Please feel free to visit www.LuckySinghOnline.com and sign up to our mailing list for all the news and of course all the freebies we have install for our special mailing list members.

Peace & Luv as always,

"The Origins Of Project 8105"

Just wanted to update this blog 'thingymajig' today to whoever maybe reading, i can see this becoming an addictive blogspot since i only blogged for the first time yesterday hehe!
Just wanted to fill you in on our progress with concerns to our newest video feature entitled "The Origins Of Project 8105", all the details about the feature are in my previous blog.
Yesterday myself Ben & Kevin set out to film the feature, originally we planned to film the whole feature in my lounge but because we have been blessed with some beautiful snowy weather recently (albeit very cold too hehe) we decided to film half of the feature outside in a few various locations in and around the area where i live.
Its rare that the 3 of us get to spend time together these days but its always a pleasure hehe, a 1 hour feature takes us a whole day because we spend the other 6-7 hours joking about or just talking lol! Not to worry though hehe, we managed to film everything and we had so much to talk about with regards to the album "Project 8105" that i think we have given Ben a mammoth task when it comes to editing down this mother of a feature to respectable episode lengths!
We are looking to upgrade to a much better quality camera though since the one we are using has difficulty adjusting to some of the different areas of light outside, i know... i probably wouldnt be complaining about the technology if it was like 10-20 years ago haha!
Anyway...... today i go out to teach my fellow guitar students and when i finish this evening i will get together with Ben to dome some editing for both this and the "7" feature! (going to be interesting trying to size this one down with all the waffling that went on whilst filming hehe)

See ya soon folks ;-)

Happy New Year Peeps!
I wanted to get up and blog wishing everyone all the best for 2010, after all the drunken celebrations and partying hard (well for those of you that drink alcohol that is, just soft drinks for me haha) this is a great time to reflect but also the perfect time to plan any new starts in whatever walk of life.
Make the most of every minute of everyday that's my motto ;-)

I also wanted to say a huge thank you to those of you who have purchased copies of the albums both in mp3 and CD format, myself, Ben & Kevin have really enjoyed working together whilst producing all 3 albums, they have to be 3 of the most monumental musical chapters of our lives so far! There is no better feeling for us than having people like you show your interest, bringing us great comments and feedback about what you like about our music. YOU ALL ROCK!!

I have to thank Kevin and Ben for all of their hard work, to have the music i have written be put into the hands of 2 very creative people such as Ben & Kevin is a blessing any artist would wish for.

Ok that's enough sucking up i think ha' so what's install for 2010 i hear you cry?

Well to start off The Mystique Of "7" has kicked off!

That's right folks episode 1 "Memory Man" is available to watch at 7uckytv (our youtube channel) the feature runs weekly and in each episode i discuss each song from my instrumental debut album "7".
Not only that but we will be making some of the mp3's available for free download, plus there will be other treats for those of you who already have the CD's. Many of the special downloadable freebies will be exclusive to all of our mailing list members.

There had been many uploads at 7uckytv in 2009, myself and ben have been working up some new cover versions to continue from my recent versions of 2 classic Steve Vai songs and of course the original "The Curse Of Castle Dragon" cover version performed by myself and Ben on Bass Guitar.
We wanted to ask if any of you had any suggestions for a Video cover version that you would like us to attempt, it could be anything from a classic instrumental track to a Pop song that you feel we could rearrange with a more "Pseudo Rock" edge to it haha....
Get back to us on it folks, be sure to subscribe and add us to youtube, facebook, twitter, and use the standard forms of web posting and let us know your ideas, all of the links to our social networking sites are available from http://www.luckysinghonline.com/.

"The Origins Of Project 8105"

The origins of Project 8105 is another video blog style feature which myself and Kevin are working on at the moment, this album was such a huge project and i really wanted to make sure that everyone had more of an insight into what were sometimes very grueling moments for myself and Kev just trying to get this project off the ground! Of course also to let you know of what was amazing for the most part, i don't want to sound like it was a chore because it wasn't haha!
Project 8105 stands alone both on a musical and conceptual level, every aspect of this album from the music right the way through to the artwork was so involved, the goal is that this video feature will give you all in depth access to some of the deeper subject "Grey Matter" haha!

"I Want To Go To Japan"

Well since we are doing video features for both "7" & Project 8105 it seems only fair that we pay tribute to album no3 haha!
"Tokyo Rules" again is a different project all together, the stories within each song and the links between certain songs were never meant to be in a conceptual context but it just so happened to pan out that way.
"I Want To Go To Japan" will be a feature where each episode will cover the clusters of songs belonging to each concept group, the video format will probably be a little text explaining the group of songs then a video version of one song from that specific group performed by myself and Ben.
Ben will also be looking to film a little blog feature to let you in on some of the recording secrets, he can be a shy guy you know so be gentle with him hehe. We may actually incorporate Bens videos into this feature, since he hasn't had an opportunity to film anything in this style, you might get to hear him speak or even sing who knows!

Hehe..

Well that's all to start this brand new year but i can guarantee you there will be a lot more to come from us in 2010, putting together a new band, recording a new album and of course getting out there to perform for all of you and hopefully meet many of you on the road ;-)
I want to thank you all again for your loyalty and support to us and the music, we want to continue to keep you all in the loop but also document a lot more so your along with us as much as possible for the journey.

Lets just hope me and the guys can make 2010 a great year in terms of launching bigger and better things, its a lot to live up to i know that much.

Happy New Year & Remember, make the most of every minute of every day peeps!

Lucky Singh ;-) xx
